Valerie turns to the adoption lady/ headmistress: I still don't understand why I have to be adopted!

Valerie holds up a bag

Alaria: Alright, I’ll see if I can find any books for you next time I go shopping

Valerie: It depends on what kind. Mosquitos spread malaria, but spiders keep the bug population down.

Alaria: *stops in front of a metal gate that says private property, a tall wooden fence extends in both directions*

Alaria: *gets a notepad and a pencil and passes it back* I’m going shopping in a few days, if there is anything you want just put it on there, and nothing outlandish I’m not getting you a mansion or anything like that

she starts writing down some stuff

she gives her the notebook back. there is a fantasy novel on the list, a math textbook and a history one, and lastly pens and paper
