In the UK, it was called Pong - My dad got one around 1972 that was plugged into the TV set :~)

Imagine thinking you were getting that, and ending up with a glorified egg-timer

This game really did make you angry and obviously crushingly disappointed. That memory has never left and maybe you should try to erase this abomination from your conscience and remember the good stuff from 1977 :~)
