The title to the land never belonged to the Palestinian Arabs currently residing on the property. A report by Avi Bell highlights the depth of the dishonesty currently being peddled by media and the progressive Left. Jordan illegally occupied Judea and Samaria as well as east Jerusalem following Israel’s War of Independence in 1948. At the time, it was nearly unanimously maintained that neither Jordan nor another occupying power had a legal claim to the captured lands. In 1949, the specific properties at issue were sequestered under the Jordanian Custodian of Enemy Property. During Jordan’s nearly two-decade occupation Jews were killed or ethnically cleansed from the captured lands and not permitted to exercise any property rights over the land.

Bell notes that, following the Six-Day War in 1967 in which Israel terminated the Jordanian occupation, the Knesset passed a law that allowed any person of any ethnicity to have his or her property rights vindicated. Where the Jordanian Custodian of Enemy Property had granted title to sequestered properties, their property rights remained intact, but where the Jordanian Custodian had held on to the sequestered properties, they were returned to the owners via the Israeli Administrator General.

The land in question here was sequestered land that eventually was returned to its lawful Jewish owners following an end to Jordanian occupation. Ironically, had the Jordanians granted title of the land to Palestinian Arabs rather than sequestering it, the Israelis would have respected the title.

What you’ll probably hear is that the Jews are staking claim to East Jerusalem land because of a 1970 law that Palestinians were not given under similar circumstances in the past. But the reason the holdover tenants in Sheikh Jarrah lack ownership today is not because the state of Israel has denied Palestinians any rights they acquired, but because the government of Jordan failed to give the Palestinians title to the land Jordan itself had seized.”

Given that the land in question belongs to Israeli Jews, it is utterly remarkable that those advocating a halt to the evictions do so on the basis that Jewish property rights ought not to be recognized. Didn’t something similar happen in Germany before?

Don’t get me wrong. Just because the Israeli government has the legal right to evict, I still don’t like the idea of removing families from their homes, which is why I’d much rather see Israel provide housing for them.

First off, it’s nothing even close to apartheid. Secondly, if you do bother to read it (will take less than 5 minutes) you’ll see why it’s not illegal.

Oh I forgot another thing. The UN raises funds for Gaza, which ends up in the hands of Hamas, a terrorist organization. The UN is well aware they are funding a tisemetic terrorists but they keep it up anyway.

He stated that Israeli settlers were the source of the problem and he failed to understand why the international community gets upset when ‘we defend our people by confronting Israeli killings.’

I fail to see how bombing Gaza is somehow going to prevent more Palestinian civilians from being radicalized into joining them.

They weren’t just bombing randomly, they were bombing where their intelligence shows that Hamas leaders are located.

Ok so you didn’t read what I put, or you didn’t comprehend. Your link there doesn’t de-bunk anything I wrote, it just repeats the same talking points I hear from liberal politicians. It says that Israel is committing war crimes for confiscating private property. The whole point in my previous comment was explaining the Jordanian government’s failure to legitimize certain properties, thus Israel is not breaking these laws. It also claims there is no military necessity for Israel to do so, which was proven wrong in the latest Israel-Gaza conflict.

Not just the International Criminal Court, but the United Nations Human Rights Council has also shown string bias against Israel. They have more resolutions against Israel than every other country combined, which includes:

China which has stripped its people of rights and is carrying out full on genocide.

Iran, which openly funds terrorist militias, plus imprisons, executes, or tortures homosexuals. The Iranian government has even used electroshock torture on gay children.

Russia, where truth about covid is suppressed, doctors who told the truth were killed in staged accidents, Putin had a political rival poisoned, and freedom of religion is under attack.

North Korea, where threatening mass death and destruction from nuclear weapons is Kim’s hobby. There is no freedom of expression or even haircuts. Execution, literal enslavement, torture, imprisonment, and rape, are common everyday methods to keep citizens in line.

But Israel wants to evict 13 families for legal reasons and they’re so much worse than all these 👆, solely worthy of 3x the number of condemnations as the rest of the world combined in 2020 alone. That is f**ked up.

So your argument essentially boils down to "Israel isn't doing anything illegal (despite every international power who decides that saying otherwise) because the UN hates them more than these unrelated countries who are also doing genocide and war crimes." Makes perfect sense.

No, my argument boils down to Israel isn’t doing anything illegal because Jordan never legitimized the property rights for some of their own citizens when they illegally took Judea and Samaria from Israel, so the properties still belong to Israel.

Humans rights watches don’t decide on property disputes, certainly not ones that show a blatant bias.
