Time for the 'short' version (which is still kind of long).
The world is known as Cortava, and it is divided into eight main regions, and everything outside of these regions is known as The Badlands. Now, to list the regions:
0: The Badlands (technically a region): The Badlands, existing outside of the main regions, are home to a savage, beast-like race that lives in exile from the rest of the world.
1: Plains of Tasolor: The Plains are... well, plains. A human empire with no official name lives here and is constantly trying to take over the other regions, but the constant invasions make that hard.
2: Forest of Merr: The entire forest is technically just one giant tree, whose roots end up growing so much that they look like smaller trees. The orcs call this place home.
3: Really Big Desert: A rather literally named region, the Really Big Desert is home to a nomadic clan of lizardfolk. That's... pretty much all there is to say about it. Did I mention that it's really big?
4: Swamps of Gheli: The nearly un-navigable marshlands are where the drow and elves reside, having allied due to their immense hatred for the other races.
5: Distortion Belt: A mountain range that's home to all sorts of elementals.
6: Kirafos' Chasm: A giant ravine where a dragon queen lives, ruling over her army of kobolds.
7: The Dark Sea: A big scary ocean with lots of sea monsters and islands with WEIRD inhabitants.
8: Hollowkeep: A massive underground city home to a mysterious race of rock creatures.
