The oldest KNOWN religion is a VERSION of Hinduism. You have to realize two different things: we don't know anything about the religious beliefs of those who came before the invention of writing, and Hinduism is actually a collection of individual faiths that merged together over time.
A harder-to-swallow pill? The Hebrews were originally polytheistic and worshiped the God of the Bible alongside other gods. The God of the Bible even had a wife! Changes how you read the Old Testament, doesn't it?
Another hard-to-swallow pill? Jesus didn't say he was THE Son of God in the text of the New Testament. The article "the" is assumed as it didn't exist in Greek. He could very well have been saying that he was A son of God, which would throw doubt on later books of the Bible that clearly claimed he was THE Son of God.
When you start digging, you'll find plenty of hard-to-swallow pills in regards to religion... and people will be angry with you for pointing them out.
