No... I wouldn't put it as high as 99.9%. I wouldn't put it even as high as 1%. I've had four therapists in my life and not one of them was toxic. If therapy was so full of toxic individuals, then nobody would find it helpful and they wouldn't be in business.
The whole purpose of The Client Side Forum is to provide a place for people to complain about their therapists, so of course, all of the posts cast them in a negative light. But you have to look at the numbers. You have less than 7000 posts on that Forum, many of which are likely by the same individuals. Let's assume that each individual posts twice (regularly likely post much more, but for argument's sake, we'll say twice). That 3500 individual people. In 2019 over 40.2 million adults received treatment or counseling in the U.S. The people on that board represent less than 0.0009% of the people who received these services.
Now I will admit that there are likely more people who have bad experiences than who post on that board - people who just quit and don't complain. But even if we assume there are 1000x more people than what posts on that board, we still don't get up to 1%. Your number of 99.9% is vastly inflated.
One of the things that some patients don't realize is that they can ask for a different therapist. Therapists are professionals, but they are also human, and sometimes your personality doesn't mesh well with the person you first connect with. That doesn't mean that individual is a bad therapist - it just means that they're not the therapist for you.
