Well to be fair, that's the age of consent by the government in Japan, but many of the prefectures (particularly urban areas) in Japan have raised it to 16 or 18. For example, Tokyo has an age of consent of 18 years old. I think it's mostly the rural areas that have not raised it yet.

But yeah, it's a good thing that the age of consent is being raised for Japan nationwide 👍
