To start off with, piercing actually like acts infinity because through all mobs it will just go right through them and you can pick the arrow up again, arrows aren't that hard to get anyways since get them by making a skeleton farm or by trading with fletcher villagers if you still like using the bow as a main that's fine, crossbows are still good mostly because of the feature where you can shoot fireworks with it a firework crafted with the maximum amount of stars can do some serious area damage equal if not stronger then a power 5 bow especially with multishot.
