This actually happened and might be why I'm an ally today... | As a high school
freshman, I sat
my Christian
mother down to
tell her I wasn't
Christian. I learn about
Buddhism.
Realize that
Buddhism
spoke to me
more than
Christianity. She said
that was fine.
All religions
have the
same basic
message. She was
relieved
because she
thought
I was about
to tell her I
was gay. | image tagged in memes, gru's plan | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

It doesn't get easier to tell your parents they're wrong when they/you get older... If anything, it gets more complicated.

LOL... Buddhism didn't last long. Let's just say that my spiritual journey has led me to the belief that the journey is the point - not the label.

I've heard of that... It's similar to what I've come to believe. I'm more monotheistic/panentheistic. I like process theology, suspect there's some truth to panpsychicism, and well versed in both Hermetic and Traditional Qabalah.

... so, yeah, I'm a bit of my own thing. :-)

read the title, you don't need to just be an ally just cuz ur mom said so. You can be gay and not be open about it, and you shouldn't allow your mom to change you.

LOL... I think you misunderstand. This happened 25 years ago - I'm well established in my sexuality and gender. The point is, she was more accepting of me being of a different religion than she would have been had I told her I was gay. That realization, along with seeing what my lesbian, gay, and bi friends at school were going through, made me more open-minded about sexuality and gender as an adult.
