FALL OF IRONWALL; On mountains high, we built our home
A fortress broad of iron and stone
Built against the Orcish might
With towers strong and great of height
chorus:
Ironwall
Strong and tall
Bastion of power
No Dwarf may cower
Under the wall, a hall was mined
Not by design, the two aligned
The eastern wall pressed down upon
The ceiling having pillars forgone
When in the hall, a Low-Dwarf feast
With mining then, the hall increased
And Ironwall, their ceiling crumbled
And filled the Low-Dwarf hall with rubble
The iron wall upon the east
Collapsed, and then the guards deceased
The stone and iron tumbled down
And crushed the Low-Dwarves underground
The High-Dwarf sentinels opined
The Low-Dwarf lords met in the mines
The High-Dwarves called for bloody war
The Low-Dwarves swore their blood to pour
{chorus}
The Low-Dwarves dug to Centerground
The High-Dwarves listened to the sound
Of pick and sledge upon the rock
And dug, their passage-way to block
When met the Dwarf-hosts in the mine
In shield-wall, they did combine
The Low-Dwarf axes shields did cleave
Into the tunnel, stones we heaved
The Low-Dwarf army issued forth
From minéd forges, red and swarth
Of swarthy red their banner, proud
Their men with axes all endowed
{chorus}
Up the mountain, the Low-Dwarves came
We rolled down stones their hosts to maim
But vengefully they persevered
And tówards Ironwall they neared
When came they to the crevice, deep
The Low-Dwarves gathered stones to heap
Into the hall, so they could cross
And slay the High-Dwarves standing stoss
{chorus}
The High-Dwarf archers arrows strung
Their volleys piercing heart and lung
The Low-Dwarves, slain, were then impelled
And in the deeping pit beheld
