if he is being transphobic, say to him, "Hey, not trying to be rude, but can you please be a little more respectful to [name of transgender person]? They put a lot of consideration into transitioning, and they are still another human being whether they are trans or not. They are entitled to the same respect as any other person." (be sure to use a respectful voice as well)
