(Carlos slaps Corys dad}

(Soon, everyone here is beating him up}

Dad: I did not touch the child!

(Carlos} THEN WHOSS TOUCHIN DE CHILD

Dad: *points at random civilian* Him!

arrows: *shoots an arrow at cory that heals his bruises rather than make him bleed*

What happened?

Cory: I-I'm fine...

No, you clearly aren’t

Cory: D-don't worry about it...

Cory: I'm f-fine, I p-promise...

(Cory's phone starts ringing)
Cory: Oh, I h-have to t-take this...
(He answers the phone, and you hear yelling through the receiver)

*waits*

(Cory starts crying)

You ok?

Cory: Oh, that's just my dad...

Just?

Cory: Yeah, it's okay... I'm used to it by now...

Monk: D*mn it Cory, again?

Cory: The last time my power came out, someone got badly hurt...

Monk: Yeah, it gets hard to control, I definitely know that feeling.

Cory: It's nice, having someone to talk to about this.

Monk: I’ve meet many people who have a lot of struggles, so I sort of know how to respond, but i’m not the best at it, heh.

Cory: You're such a good friend.

Monk: Heh, thanks. You too.

Cory: Ya know how my stomach turned red and hurt like hell earlier?

Monk: Mhm?

Cory: I think that's another one of my 'powers' If you can even call it that.

Monk: Hm.

Cory: It's nice, having a real friend.

Monk: Heh, yeah. Don’t get those too often huh?

Cory: Especially not people like... well, me.

Monk: I normally don’t get new friends cause i have trust issues but. I guess i could make an exception, heh.

Cory: *smiles*

Monk: *Hides their wings* Anyways, what are you then?

Cory: I don't know... some kind of human, but definitely not a normal one, heh.

Monk: You just have powers then?

Cory: I guess so. I can't control them, though. They only happen when I'm really mad, or in serious danger.

Monk: So you’ve never tried to practice them huh?

(Cory starts crying)

*Monk sighs, wondering what they could do*

(The phone hangs up.)

Monk: Who was that?

Cory: J-just my dad...

Monk: ...did he do this?

Cory: I'm required to answer 'no'.

Monk: And that tells me yes he did, alright, such a great dad. *sigh* Why did he do this?

Cory: I don't know...

Monk: Was he mad at you for something?

Cory: Oh, it's you... Hi.

Monk: *Sighs* What happened this time?

Cory: N-nothing... I'm f-fine..

Monk: That’s a lie, you’re covered in bruises and cuts. You’re not fine.

Cory: Don't w-worry about it!

Monk: Yeah no, i’m gonna worry. Who did this to you?

Cory: I said d-don't worry about it!

Monk: I’m not known for following rules alright? I’m not gonna leave you alone like this. I may be mean sometimes, but cmon.

(Suddenly, Cory's phone starts ringing)
Cory: Oh, I have to answer this...
(He answers, and you hear angry yelling through the receiver)

*Monk considers yelling back, assuming it’s the person who hurt him, but decides not to*

Cory: (clutching his stomach, tears flowing out of his eyes) I C-CAN'T SEE WHAT YOU'RE
T-TALKING ABOUT, BUT Y-YES!

Monk: Jesus, alright cmon. *They try and help Cory get there as quickly as possible*

Cory: *trying to walk as fast as he can*

Monk: Alright, tell me what you want now and i’ll go order it quickly.

Cory: I-I'LL TAKE A B-BURGER!

*Monk runs and orders a burger, then a few minutes later, Monk comes out with a burger*
Monk: Here.

Cory: *eats it*

Monk: Definitely not trying to seem rude, but your dad sucks.

Cory: H-he really does... Do I ever have to go back? Can I just live somewhere else?

Monk: Yeah of course. That’s what I did. My mom didn’t like me that much, but my dad did. He stuck up for me. Sometimes at least, heh.

(Cory's voice begins to sound angry)
Cory: I hate him s-so much.

Monk: ...

(You see something red start swirling around Cory)
Cory: I just wanna... I just wanna...

*Monk backs up a bit, not knowing what’ll happen*

(Cory starts floating)
Cory: I swear to god, I'm gonna TEAR HIM APART...

Monk: Alright calm down Cory!

(Cory's hair turns red, and starts glowing)
Cory: HE'S GONNA REGRET EVER DOING THIS TO ME...

*Monk flys up and grabs him*
Monk: CORY CALM DOWN!

(A small explosion comes out of Cory, knocking Monk down)
Cory: HIS BLOOD WILL SPILL...

Monk: F**k! *Monk’s arm and wing is cut and bleeding* Whatever. Cory! You shouldn’t do this!

Cory: I don't k-know... But I'm g-glad it d-did... I didn't want my a-anger hurting you...

*Monk hides the cuts* Monk: I’m good don’t worry.

Cory: I guess I can't hide it anymore... I'm not a normal person.

Monk: No one is, but I get what you’re saying, heh.

Cory: I appreciate you staying with me, even when I did... that.

*Monk grabs their wing that’s cut*
Monk: I’ve been through worse, heh.

Cory: Most of my former friends left me when they saw me do that.

Monk: That just means they’re weak. And once again, i’ve went through a lot worse then just a small cut, heh.

Cory: Oh no, I cut you?! Are you okay?!

Monk: I’m fine. Doesn’t matter, it’ll heal eventually. I’ve had a whole wing torn off before, so.

(Green fire begins to appear around Cory)
Cory: I'LL DO TO HIM WHAT HE DID TO ME!

*Monk tries to fly back up to him, but the cut prevents them*
Monk: *Sigh* Yknow what? Do it, see what that does for you. Maybe you’ll get killed, or sent to jail. Maybe you fail and you get hurt more.

Cory: HE'S GONNA--
(Suddenly, something flies out of nowhere and hits Cory, knocking him down)

Monk: What the-?

Cory: I'm so s-sorry...

Monk: What do you mean?

Cory: I'm sorry you h-had to h-hear that... I just dislike my dad a b-bit...

Monk: You’re fine.

Cory: I d-don't really m-mean any of what I j-just said...

Monk: Eh, seemed like you meant it a bit. But what the hell hit you?

Cory: I'm tired. Let's get to your place.

Monk: Alright,

(The next day, you see Cory practicing his power)

Monk: Nice.

Cory: I think I'm gaining a bit more control!

Monk: That’s good!

Cory: I've been practicing all morning!

Monk: Nice!

Cory: Watch this! (He starts floating, like before)

Monk: That’s a huge improvement, nice job!

Cory: W-wherever you w-want to go... I've
f-forgotten my f-favorite foods...

Monk: Man, i’ve already eaten today, i’m going just so you can eat. I don’t care where.

(Suddenly, Cory's stomach starts glowing red, and Cory seems to be in immense pain)

Monk: What the hell? You good?
(and btw i’m gonna be going to bed so, i’ll be back in a couple hours lmao)

Cory: OH GOD AAAAA IT HURTS IT HURTS

*Monk looks confusedly*
Monk: What??

Cory: This h-happens when I d-don't eat for a l-long t-time...

Monk: Well then cmon. We’ll just go to the nearest restaurant.

Cory: A-alright..

*Monk sees a restaurant down only a block*
Monk: Wanna go there?

Cory: Yeah...

Monk: What did you do? Or, what did he think you do?

Cory: I got a D on a test...

Monk: That’s a bullsh*t reason to beat up their kid. I would say we could report him to the police, but i doubt you wanna do that.

Cory: Yeah, I'd--(Midway through his sentence, Cory's stomach growls very loudly)

Monk: We could talk about this after we get you some food. Cmon.

Cory: T-thanks... I haven't eaten in weeks..

Monk: Weeks!? Yeah, we’re definitely getting you some food.

Cory: I think m-my dad was t-trying to starve m-me...

Monk: Well, I’m not letting that happen. Where do you wanna eat?

Cory: Y-you're lucky...

Monk: Eh, I normally had to defend myself. I would mostly stay with my sister, or go to friends houses, anything to avoid my mom. Despite her being a doctor at a hospital, she loved hurting me, heh.

Cory: T-that's awful...

Monk: I guess. But, now my dad helped me buy a house, and i’m living on my own now. And, i foster kids too, and babysit, just to help others out. So, life will kick you down, but hey. It’ll change one day.

Cory: It doesn't seen like things will ever get better for me... Every day, I'm injured, or in danger, or being attacked... I can never have a normal day...

Monk: Hey, if you’d like, you could stay with me for a while. I don’t mind. I’ve had lots of people stay over because of problems they couldn’t handle.

Cory: I would... I would really appreciate that.

Monk: Yeah, i know how it is being in a pretty bad family so.

Cory: M-my mother died recently, along w-with my brother... All I've had is... (He starts crying a bit) m-my STUPID, NO GOOD DAD!

Monk: And of course, your dad would think of that as an excuse to abuse you. *Sighs* Definitely not gonna let that happen.

Cory: No... I'm afraid to.

Monk: Well, think of it this way. You practice it, then you won’t hurt anyone on accident.

Cory: No, I'm afraid that if I use my powers too much, instead of me gaining control of them... They'll gain control of me.

Monk: That’s why you practice them in spirts. Meaning, don’t practice them every day, do it every week or something.

Cory: Okay...

Monk: My friend was the same way, except, his powers are from a demon he has living in him. But, he practiced in ways that the demon couldn’t really keep up i guess you can say.

Cory: Well, I'll practice a bit.

Monk: And if you do feel like it’s gonna take outer, take a break, a longer one, then start again when you feel better.

Cory: Okay!

*Monk smiles*
