When the Bible says you can hit your child if they misbehave, it's not talking about a full on punch. You are allowed to hit your child with a hit that will not kill them or make them bleed. Which means that they probably would rather have you slap their wrists with a wooden rod than hit your child anywhere else, just to be safe.
