I actually thought of this at the same time you did, but didn't think of making it into a meme. Of course, after some time debating, we decided that Mewtwo could technically deflect them with his psychic abilities, or just straight up incinerate it. Then again, if it's a surprise encounter and you get close enough, this should work.
