The best way to not get hooked on something is to not start using it, like smoking, drinking or drugs it starts small, you just do it once in awhile, but then your mind starts to become desenthesised to it the more you expose yourself to the addictive substance. Addiction is a progressive disease. I know a little about addiction and recovery having worked with people with addictions and even gone through the 12 steps of alcoholics anonymous myself. It's a mental state by which you lose control of your passions, appetite, desire for something and it takes over your life making you almost powerless over it. I'm happy to answer any questions.
