A mask is a filter. The holes in a mask are small enough to not let a large amount of air born pathogens in while also being big enough to let oxygen in. A mask filters oxygen from the air.

No a piece of cloth isn’t a filter. If cloth were a filter the next I could just put a thong over my face and call it science. The logic is astonishingly broken.

Guess what? People dying from covid is inevitable. You can’t save everyone. That’s the sad truth.
0 ups, 3y
So why act like it's impossible for one to die from COVID-19? People wear masks to protect others. You may not be able to save everyone, but it is possible to save at least one person.

let me explain how it works. no it doesn't stop the virus from entering thr mask. however, it traps the water molecules that carry the virus and fly out of your mouth whenever ou speak. so no, they don't stop you from getting it they stop it if you have it, because 50% of people that have covid and have no symptoms so if theyy don't know it and go in public they could spread it. I say with masks: don't wear it for your sake, wear it for the sake of others

isn't it better if no-one dies over a small amount? i know people die from it, a beloved member of our community who participated in many things important to his culture and was a counseler at othe high school who was no less than 35 died from it. Imagine being someone who had a family member die from covid and people are saying covid is no big deal because only a small amount of people die. those people are still people and altough you may not know or care about them. someone does. and we want as little people as possible dying so please. please wear a mask. its a simple piece of cloth. it won't choke you. it won't kill you. it doesn't protect you. it protects people you know. it protects those you don't know. it protects those who care. those who don't because no-one deserves or deserved to die from this. and you shouldn't either.

yes social distzncing is effective but if you read my commeny you'd know I explained how the carefully tested and examined current health mask does prevent the spread of covid. and even if its only going to make a small difference in the end, I still want to protect those who might be affected. Besides if you still believe masks don't work then I can't convince you. but just wear it so other people feel safe. its "just a piece of cloth" after all and even if you don't think it works look at the research papers, the tests done on the masks by scientists to protect people as much as possible even if only in a little way. people risk their lives every day doing countless things that don't involve covid. and frontline workers work nearly 24/7. so think about them. think that they believe even if it might not work, it might. and if it does, it saves lives. but even if it doesn't. it still helps. even if masks are overrated and they don't do nearly as much as a face cover. it helps that little bit. besides. if it didn't work. if it didn't. it still gives people a hope. a hope that they in their own small way they are helping. and they are. they are helping. but say masks didn't work. then why do scientists who have taken a sollemn oath to pursue science and not loyalty. to never lie. to never. ever lie about their research. why would thousands of world renowned scientists lie? lie about how masks work? they don't. and you can say its just a cloth, but irs a cloth made specifically to be a virus stopping cloth. to trap as much of the virus as possible. you are right its just a cloth. but its a cloth made not to be a tissue or towel. It is a cloth made to be a shield. a shield we use to stop the spread as the same people who created the shield, the everchanging shield that as they do more tests they perfect even more. those scientists. those people. they are creating the "sword" the vaccine that hopefully can stop covid, or slow it down enough it won't spread anymore. thats why you wear a mask. maybe because it works. maybe it is a sign of hope. maybe it is a simple cloth. or maybe it is a shield against a virus. one that although rarely can kill. and you know as an american everybody deserves rights. and everyone deserves to live a full life.

I got infected with covid by a church member who always wears double masks. It’s just a piece of cloth, it doesn’t protect other people. You just proved my point. Also. WE don’t wear masks just to make people “feel” safe. We do it only if it’s effective. Why would you keep doing something that is not effective? The world doesn’t operate on maybes. What if maybe I’m a pizza hologram who’s typing this in an alternate universe? Dont use maybe and the next call it a fact. It’s dangerous. For example, maybe Jews aren’t human? See my line of reasonings. It’s faulty, dangerous.
0 ups, 3y
so you live somewhere that only you and a church member is? I feel like there would be more than one person near you. if you were really anywhere like church, the store or literally any public building there would be at least one other person. you can't say they infected you also because covid takes up to 2 weeks from entering your body to give symptoms and anyone near you could also be an aysmptomatic. also me using maybe is just a alternative. you can't convince me that a specially tested mask made specifically for coronavirus by biologists who know much more than you do about the virus. you also can't say a mask proven to work, doesn't work. it wasn't just made and thrown into the public, it went through multiple tests and prototype masks.
0 ups, 3y
They literally did trace contact. What are your sources masks went through testing? Face masks existed long before COVID.

Did you even read my reply? According to the Texas Tribune, confereces were cancelled because the mask mandate was lifted. Small or non existent gatherings lead to COVID having less of a chance of being spread in that gathering.
0 ups, 3y,

There’s no evidence for that
0 ups, 3y
Really? Large gatherings where no one wears masks don't spread anything?
0 ups, 3y,
1 reply
When did I say that? Don’t twist my words.
0 ups, 3y
I said small or non-existent gatherings have less of a chance for COVID being spread.

People were also uncomfortable with going to gatherings with no mask mandate. Mask mandate being lifted -> people feeling uncomfortable with going to conferences with no mask mandate-> people don't go to conferences -> no large gathering.
0 ups, 3y,

Cases went down AFTER the mask mandate was removed
0 ups, 3y
And why did they go down?
0 ups, 3y,
1 reply
The conference was canceled because Texas did not require masks, not because the conference spreads covid.
0 ups, 3y
So you're saying that large gatherings don't spread COVID-19?
0 ups, 3y,
1 reply
Stop bending my words. I said there’s no evidence to prove cases in Texas are going down because no one want so to get together because of the defunct mask mandate.
0 ups, 3y
If you say masks do nothing, then why would there be less cases in Texas? The mask mandate would have done nothing, right?

People were exposed to the virus more, making their immune systems stronger. Herd Immunity. Natural Immunity.
0 ups, 3y
(Rephrasing my comment)
Also, are you an anti-vaxxer? If so, then you just described a vaccine. Expose a body to a strain that is close to another virus, making their immune systems much more effective at removing viruses like what one got vaccinated against. Vaccinating with the exact same virus as what you want to avoid is much more riskier, so vaccinating with a harmless or dead virus is much less risky and gets you to the same effect.

If you weren't an antivaxxer, then it's nice you trust modern medicine.
0 ups, 3y
Hold on. You said masks didn't work. Then, you said that without masks, people were exposed to COVID more. So why say masks don't work when clearly they would have prevented people from getting COVID-19?
0 ups, 3y,

Look at Texas. Look at California, where they still have masks. They’re worse than Texas
0 ups, 3y
Hmm it's almost as if Texas cases are lowering because people feel uncomfortable with being in large gatherings, leading to people not going to large gatherings, which leads to large gatherings being cancelled. People always forget to add context to anything.

Also, people in Japan have been wearing masks when going out if they were sick before the COVID-19 pandemic.
0 ups, 3y
thats one of the places with the largest groups of anti-maskers in america
0 ups, 3y
Now then, explain to me how removing a mandate for nothing would cause cases to go down?

Oh, wait, you admitted masks worked.
"People were exposed to the virus more, making their immune systems stronger. Herd Immunity. Natural Immunity."

Masks got less people exposed to COVID? Wouldn't that be a good thing?
