This actually your dog?

My dog is so afraid of the vacuum cleaner...his fear is obviously irrational, but he's a dog and dog's are relatively stupid. Relative to humans, that is. Otherwise, they are relatively intelligent to the rest of the animals out there. I wish I could figure out how to make him relax when I vacuum.

I don't get the joke.

I believe it's a commentary on the dog's fear of the vacuum and his getting over that fear, all while knowing he might end up dead because of his confrontation with the vacuum. He made his peace with God because he thinks that squaring off with the vacuum could very well end up in his demise.
