Honesty really.
I get nervous at hints. Makes me feel like I'm stupid or imagining it.

One thing i know is that most (if not, all) guys hate/get confused at the hints. It'll make us feel uncomfortable, stupid, etc. Unless they're more obvious. Just make him a card or something, mayhaps? That's what i would want.
