Idk. The world is changing. Traditional roles of service in government may not be appropriate. I'm not saying academics is great. But what do you need to have run a successful business? There are different ways of evaluating candidates, pardon the pun.

No. Not every can, nor should, serve in the military. It is an honor and privilege to serve in the military. Two things many politicians do not understand. Don't force them into the military or the military will suffer. Also, many people of honor have physical limitations that make military service impossible.
