It didn't get banned because another company bought TikTok.
It wasn't entirely Trump's fault since he had no control of whether another company would've bought TikTok or not.
So Trump did do something by standing up and actually motioning to ban TikTok but like I said, it's not his fault for another company buying the social media app.

Plus, tiktok was spying on American citizens. Wwould you want some random Chinese dude knowing almost everything about you.
