Depends on the church. Some of us, mine included, say don't hate lgbt people, but we would never marry a gay couple or recognize a trans person as the other gender. Others, though, go against the word of God in the name of loving everyone, which is straight up blasphemy. They are trying to be modern but have lost the meaning of christ's gospel. Others are too far the other way and believe gay people should be punished by society, which is just as wrong.

I agree. We shouldn't hate people, we should lovingly inform them of their sin.

If they don't believe in christ, then they won't understand why it's a sin at all.

You should inform them why it is as a first step to conversion.

You should definitely share the gospel with people, but not with the initial intent to make them straight. You should do it so they can find Christ

Yes but once they find Christ they would see their sin and repent. That’s what I was getting at.

well it's incredibly offensive to me as a christian and he compared christianity to lgbtq+, which is frowned upon by christians
and he compared two completely different things (a religion and sexual orientation)
that would be like if i said "lmho serial killers have more validity than atheism"
and you can't get mad at me because i'm "stating my opinion" on serial killers and atheism

lgbtq+ isn't supposed to be frowned upon by christians. and the queer community shouldn't be compared to serial killers, it's two completely different things. serial killers take the lives of others, while the lgbtq+ community just want their love lives and gender identity to be as they please (besides pedos, they're not part of us).

no no no, you can't get mad, i'm stating my opinion on serial killers and atheism, just like he stated his opinion on lgbtq+ and christian

There's nothing impolite about criticizing a religion. That's as true of Christianity as it is of Islam (which I also think LGBTQ is more valid than). I stated my opinion, which you found offensive (and being offended doesn't make you right), but that's different than personal insults.
0 ups, 3y,
1 reply
yes there is, you said that christianity was less valid than lgbtq+, which is frowned upon in christianity
discounting a religion's validity IS offensive

Having an opinion that someone finds offensive is different than making an ad hominem personal attacks against that person.

Well support and acceptance are different things. Christians accept people for who they are wether they support their beliefs. I don’t necessarily support the lgbtq community because of my own opinions but that doesn’t mean I’m hateful towards them.

No, or they shouldn’t. It’s because today people do not understand love. Gay and lesbian and bisexual are based upon lust of the flesh, so just no. Pan sexual claims to love people for who they are. That is about halfway there. Jesus said to love others as you love yourself. Love is when you feel like you should care for someone and protect them with your life. You should do this for friends, family, and essentially everybody you get to know. To simplify; you should love friends and family as if they were your spouse, and your spouse as if they were you. I am not saying women and men are not equal, but women was made to be man’s helper. The word for helper in Hebrew is the same word as protector and friend. Man and woman were destined to be partners, and lgbtq+ is tearing that apart.

I understand that some people may merely enjoy the more physical aspects of those relationships. For me, however, I can love a guy the same way as a woman. Additionally, in my life, the guys who I am/were interested in our understanding, and usually more understanding than a woman. And you know, I don't see why people think it is all about the physical benefits. You probably have female friends who you aren't interested in, right? and probably some you are interested in. maybe it's because they have a more compatible personality, or perhaps they look nicer, or something like that. It's mostly the same for me, but I like men and women. And I get that man and woman are "supposed" to be together, but look at humanity. We have always done things that go against nature. We put ourselves in space despite being evolved for the earth. We knock ourselves out and get cut open. Do you think humans were ever supposed to do these things? I don't. But yet, we do. So, I don't care if you think it's wrong, because, to me it is just fine.

I didn't say it was wrong, I simply said that it wasn't what we were evolved to do. like how you were not evolved to disrespect the lgbtq+ community, yet here you are.

Man. Some people really are this ignorant. I was never disrespectful in that comment. It is wrong to be lgtbq. Read the Bible for once. When you say i think that everybody only thinks about physical relationships, you are wrong. I did not once say or imply that. Evolution is not real. Christian and non-Christian scientists have confirmed that apes and humans do not share the same ancestor, only similar genes. Some people like you really don’t believe anything unless a “cool” person does. And how you love a man and woman the same, that is great. You should love all as yourself. However, man should not sleep with man, and woman should not sleep with woman. If you read my full original comment and understood it this debate would be nonexistent.

I studied the Bible and saw all the contradictions. And a philosophy course explained the incoherence of the so-called "trinity."

Understand, none of this disproves the possibility of God, just Christianity.

This sucks. I’m using my time and energy to save someone and they refuse to admit that they are sinful. That is the less sad part. The worse part is that there are millions and millions of people who have never heard of God and would repent if they heard. Unfortunately, I am unable to reach them. Man, I wish I lived during ancient periods like in Mesopotamia so I could tell everybody at once about Jesus.

yeah i understand this pov. its just most people use the fact that since in the bible "it says that homosexuality" is a sin and an abomination but I personally that is just the misrepresentation of "gods word" and has been something that a lot of christens use as a weak as back up to discriminate against LBGTQ+ and to try to justify them self's so they are right*.

You shouldn’t discriminate against people but you should try to turn them righteous. Some people actually make me want to commit flamethrower. Literally, some people so that being homo is okay because God loves all. It’s not. God loves Satan, that doesnt mean Lucifer isn’t burning in Hell as we speak. Using that logic, murderers are going to heaven because God loves all.
1 up, 3y,

you see first of all you see righteous as your religious is right and anybody who thinks differently need to be "cleansed" or "reformed" which is fine but you shouldn't try to force it upon others.

The Great Commission is about telling others about Jesus and making disciples. It was the last thing Jesus said before ascension, so yeah, I’d say it’s pretty important.
0 ups, 3y,

You can tell them about Him. For example, you could invite some people to church, or maybe go to their door and ask "do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior Jesus Christ?" but you can't just go up to them and tell them "you are unpure, you are wrong, and you need to be changed." if you helped them find the path to "positive" change, that's fine. But I don't care what the bible says, if you are trying to force someone to change like that, that's not okay, and also, it's not going to work.

So my life is basically about the Bible. And since you don’t care about it you think that I can’t do what it says? And you claim I am being discriminatory? Never once did I say that Christians should go up and call people unpure. That doesn’t mean they are pure though. And plus, I’ve been saying and agreeing with TheBigPig that you should tell them about Jesus first. And plus, you are saying Him capitalized yet don’t believe/obey him. Hypocritical if you ask me.

its called respecting anothers culture, if you go into the home of a person who has specific religeon oriented rules do you follow them? or do you just follow your own and disrespect them? and also, i get that you follow the bible, but i dont agree with some parts of it.

Look: there is no middle path. You either believe and follow all aspects of the Bible and go to Heaven, or go suffer and be in agony for eternity. Your choice. If anything, I’m being less than rude. I care for you, and I don’t want a single human going to Hell if I can do anything about it. Really, is 80 years of freedom on Earth worth eternal suffering. I think not. And if you believe the Bible but do not follow it and guide others on your path of satanic sin, that is unforgivable by God. Repent while you have the chance.
