Well... I never knew what to call myself growing up because I just liked who I liked. At first I didn't know it wasn't normal to like people of the same gender. I mean, I knew most married couples were a man and a woman but I never thought of it as a limit. During puberty most people were either straight or gay/lesbian but I didn't want to decide. And then I finally found out that there's more. At first I identified as bi but later I found out about pansexuality and that is just spot on.
Honestly, I consider gender a purely social construct which is just completely unnecessary. Yes, there are different biological sexes and only some of the combinations can have offspring naturally. But that is no reason to assign personality traits to what body parts a person has or that creating offspring should be the most important factor in choosing a partner.
