What I don't understand is christianity and Catholicism the same or no?

Yes, they are the same. But, over the years, various groups of people abandoned the faith, going with their own perverted versions of Christianity. Catholics were the first Christians, with the Catholic Church being the foundation of Christianity, and is the one and only true Church, where God has called all to be one.
