You cannot beat the English Longbow made from Yew - Ask the French ! (Agincourt and Crecy) :~)

Top 5 bow woods in my opinion:
1. Yew
2. Osage
3. hickory
4. Elm
5. Ash

Osage and Hickory don't grow here in the UK

But I think, rather than struggling with the draw weight, I prefer the Mauser K98 in 7.92 mm :~)
