Mario Kart in a nutshell

somebody tell me the difference between a red shell and a green shell

Red shells follow a random player in front of you while green shells don't. They just bounce off of walls and hopefully hit someone.

green shells bounce once they hit a wall, red shells destroy themselves once they a hit a wall. ( I play Mario Kart Wii so if the shell mechanics have changed please let me know )
