because in order to have fire keep going forward and actually hit something with force, something has to be on fire. or else you just get a flamethrower. i mean when you see medival people launching fireballs, they light something on fire. they cant use just fire. so unless they are coughing up hairballs at sneezing force, i doubt they would be able to shoot fireballs.

Technically, the dragon can have something else coming out of their throat. Their fire isn't normal fire in most cases. So whether by magical means or by scientific (hairballs would be funny ngl) means this is still possible. Just like Mario and his jet fuel fireballs that burn underwater.

so then how do you propose that this magical fire propells itself foward? you say by magical means but i still don't see it. also, it's nice talking to a smart person.

i mean, in onward the magic spell to make things big requires you to focus, meaning something is done with the brain in order to work with the magic to make it reality. there has to be something that forms into a fireball that's not just fire like idk the magic makes a rock appear or something. but then again i dont think dragons even use magic to begin with.

OH OH OH OH OH
Dragons use magic alright. Their very existence is magical. They have innate magical abilities. For example, any gem dragon in Dungeons & Dragons can morph into a human by magical means. All dragons have a magic of some sort. Magic is just changing the flow of energy to something you want it to be.

ok then. i see your point. so if they are able to use magic does that mean they summon rocks from their throat or something? i mean, it's still not said how it works cuz magic still has a logical way it works it usually doesn't just like happen.

I know of no dragon that breathes rocks. I'm thinking of Dungeons and Dragons BTW. I think we may be a bit confused.

it's fine. but like not breathing rocks but like summoning some type of thing that comes out of their throats to be on fire

It doesn't have to be a solid to propel itself forward. The sun is a ball of gas, but I bet it can move. It doesn't but if another bigger sun were next to it, the sun would move.
My point is is the the flame part is only the reaction. Something can combust without being on fire.SO a ball of flame is just an 'illusion' if you will that shows there is a comusting ball of whatever that is their breath weapon.

Thanks. You proposed a challenge on describing how science and magic can interact. Thanks you once again.
