The saying "hurt people, hurt people" meaning that a person who has a troubled life, family, and home tend to lash out to make themselves feel stronger. Because underneath it all they feel tiny and helpless because others have made them feel that way.

I was that kid for many years. I had a rough life, and that caused me to be angry with people. I was a generally nice kid, but I would often be jealous of certain families because they had a family and I did not. I was bullied alot. And a specific bully back in first grade... I realized that he bullied me because he was always made fun of and he had a rough life as well. So one day I went up to him and asked him if he wanted to be friends. He started to cry and said yes. and then we were great friends. My friends hated it cuz they hated him. Don't underestimate the power of love.
