I can shrug off any insults and be happy but the kid next to me cuts himself going through the same thing. Why? Because I don't let what people say distort my view of myself. A word can only damage you if you LISTEN to it. This is also a scenario where the quote I use a lot works. There are causes worth dying for but none worth killing for. Killing is killing even if it's yourself. If you kill yourself over words you are following a wrong cause. Instead of peace, you should have been following ignorance or positive self-talk. No matter what in the end if you kill. Whether it's me or yourself. Then you are still doing it wrong and following the wrong cause. You have been misguided not by those around you but by your own self-esteem. It's something easy to do that we work hard to avoid but recently has been made a political norm. Now it's not your fault for being sad over someone being hurtful. Even though sometimes it is.
