well you first have to realize that if you are godless then you have no rules. All morals/values, right/wrong come from God or a god. You must realize that without morals and values everyone just gets decide who is right and wrong based off of their own opinion! and I really do think that you're smart enough to realize that would not work...... and if you say the argument of "well we have a working government now, so why can't we be godless?" I would just have to say, how did we get those laws.? How do we know that they are true and right. The most common argument atheist and evolutionist say is that the Christian faith created a god out of a man because they needed someone to lead them. And if they're true, then so be it. The point is that the founding fathers chose our religion because it is more freeing than any other religion. So, being godless forces everyone else be godless whereas, being a Judeo-Christian means to strive towards equality under the law, justice for all, and a duty to treat others properly. Wouldn't you rather have that, then everyone just deciding who's right and wrong? The other benefit of judeo-christian belief is that you don't even have to be a Christian! If you look in the first amendment you will see the founding fathers gave every American the right to practice any religion (yes, atheism is a religion), just as long as it doesn't do something like kill a person (because, that would be going against one of the other laws). Let me give you an example of how Judeo-Christian beliefs fit into our society. When, or if, you have kids you would want them to love and respect your rules, right? But how would the kid honor and respect your rules if they didn't have to. In the book of Exodus, in the Bible, we have the 10 commandments. One of those commandments is honoring your father and mother. (respecting you to the point to where they want to obey your rules). The whole point of the Christian lifestyle isn't to control people and to tell you all the things that you're doing wrong. its about having a living, active relationship with the God who loves you and will always be by your side. it's about benefiting society with morals and values that make sense to the point where people want to obey them because you become a better person when you do! Who wouldn't want you to love your neighbor as yourself, who wouldn't want you to turn the other cheek to a fight that doesn't matter?
