I'm doing okay, but many of my fellow citizens aren't.

Really sorry to hear that. Same here, feeling lucky so far - though the 'per-capita' extent of violence in Canada is much less than the US we still have issues with senseless gang violence that sometimes spills over to the general population/innocent bystanders.

It would be protecting me, but it's too busy giving money to our enemies for "gender studies".

I'm doing fine, but my country ain't. While the US does have more guns, we pride ourselves in the ridiculous amounts of knife crime we have here in the UK. Not to mention college gangs like the Bullingdon club, and the shear amount of anti-foreigner violence (you know things have gone too far when someone is murdered because someone else heard them speak Polish on the phone)

We have seen similar things in this country with Indigenous people (missing and murdered women) as well as LGBT and immigrants. I always appreciate the UK perspective - is it common to see non-firearm carrying bobbys? firearm restrictions probably help avoid the mass-murder incidents, stabbings and vehicle murders are still prominent here. Its baffling how some people have so much hate in their hearts, sad actually.

What do you mean with bobby? I think that the firearm restriction does certainly help with things like mass murders. I can proudly say that a higher percentage of students in the UK make it through school without dying. Knives are more alleyway crime, not mass murders. I will say, though, that the problem is mainly the fact that the prison system (just like the US's) focuses too much on punishment and not enough on rehabilitation

Bobby = Police no? Sorry never been but wanting to get over there eventually! Fortunately it feels safe here, though shit happens and I admit do not live in areas where stuff happens, people pretty much enjoy each others company around here. Things I complain about are, I dunno, prehistoric problems, like that neighbor that starts his truck to warm it up at 5 AM for an hour, waking up the whole street.

We do sometimes see police with actual guns, but most of the time, it's just stun guns.

When the weapon of choice is hate, it doesn't matter if they have a gun or not. Battle them with kindness, they shall soon see the error in their ways. It sounds religious but its just decency, which these days is not as common as it should be, especially among the people hired to protect us.

Nah, I think the majority of policemen/women are decent people. It's a few that are racist, but those few are treated like no big deal. The main problem that I've seen, in both the US and the UK is people, not police

Our last president was literally the one who caused the violence lol (USA, but I’m pretty sure you figured that out)

Well yes it's in our face and was rather distressing, so thankful to be done with that (for now) - but not unique to the US. Recently Canada denounced China for their ongoing genocide of muslims (they didn't like that) but they also are not unique.

Wikipedia: Thomas Hobbes (/hɒbz/ HOBZ; sometimes known as Thomas Hobbes of Malmesbury;[4] 5 April 1588 – 4 December 1679) was an English philosopher, considered to be one of the founders of modern political philosophy.[5][6] Hobbes is best known for his 1651 book Leviathan, in which he expounds an influential formulation of social contract theory.[7] In addition to political philosophy, Hobbes contributed to a diverse array of other fields, including history, jurisprudence, geometry, the physics of gases, theology, and ethics, as well as philosophy in general.
