Yeah it takes 8 minutes and 19 seconds for light traveling at lightspeed to get to earth, so if it exploded, disappeared or anything like that we’d actually be seeing it after it actually happens
And not that you really care but all of the stars too, we are seeing them YEARS in the past, they are so far away that most of the stars in the sky right now probably already exploded and have already been replaced by ones that we cant see yet because it takes a looong time for the light from those stars to get to us
