Its hard to explain because I have a different perspective. We get a full spectrum of news from all sides in Canada, and although we are politically active we are open to all good ideas regardless of which party proposes them. Meanwhile I see the tribalism in the US and know people who picked sides long ago and will never change their ways. So there is very little cooperation or willingness to work together that from the outside appears very concerning, not to mention a literal attempt to take over government by force just 30 days ago that one side doesn't really consider to be a problem. If it had happened anywhere else, the US we are familiar with would be denouncing it. In the last number of years folks around the world are expressing concern, many US allies. These days allies are important. You can't just take what you want by force and still be considered a democratic country. The Politics stream is a reflection of that. And although I admit I stir the pot from time to time it is intended to shine a light on the craziness and help people side that there are not just two sides, there are many sides. But personal attacks and pile-on are common, and I have flagged my share of outright racist memes. It also doesn't help when people are purposely obtuse and threaten to kill people. I call that toxic, and quite frankly if you disagree I don't give a shit, because although I consider myself a reasonable person willing to consider many points of view, once people backslide and question basic tenets of truth, you may as well give up on all civilized life as we know it, because all that? It didn't come from petty dictator-wanna-be's like rumpt - it came from people working together regardless of differences towards a common goal. To me that is what makes the USA great, and I fear that the country appears to be circling the drain. One last thing - good day, eh?
