Rather boringly, there was a disclaimer on the packet that 'no hedgehogs were harmed in the production of this product, but, I remember the crisps tasted a bit like chicken !

How did they know what the crisps should taste like if they never ate hedgehogs?

It was a nice piece of marketing at the time and I think they guessed - most things taste like chicken apparently :~)
They were only a short lived product (from memory) as they contravened the 'Trades Description Act'

I think it would taste like rat meat. Of course, I never ate that either...

I can remember the taste of rabbit - very bland ! :~)

'Exotic' meat rarely lives up to expectations unless properly prepared. When I tried reindeer it just tasted like low quality pork.

And as tough as shoe leather ?

Not what I got. But it was just 'ok.' Since I had to send away for it I thought it would taste like venison or elk (both kinds of deer,) but it wasn't great.
