As of Wednesday, there are zero consequences for turning against Trump. He doesn't matter anymore. Republicans are ready to have at it.

Unfortunately he still has his cultish followers worshiping him and they may be afraid it'll be enough to cost them the next election. However, if the evangelical money grubbers decide to go into damage control mode and tell their followers not to listen to him anymore then he'll probably lose enough support that they may convict him to save face as well. (also depends on what their campain doners tell them to do)

Interesting analysis. One fatal flaw. These guys will be so repulsed by the idea that Joe Biden would be re-elected they they'll magically find it in their heart to forgive their Republican representatives. And everybody knows it.

That's really more of a Democrat worry. Republicans get roughly the same number of voters in every election; it's an almost creepily constitent thing, and all that really matters is the rubber stamp of RNC approval. Who wins the election depends very, VERY heavily on whether Democrats are turned off of voting or if they have the energy to get involved.
