Reposts are ruining the fun stream

I try to make good ideas for memes, but someone posts the meme before me. Being original is hard

And before anyone says anything, I'm not trying to defend people who repost memes

No worries, I understood what you meant, and I totally agree. However, it is not hard to avoid reposting popular memes. There are some users on here who blatantly repost and pretend they are so clever that they made all these memes that get them tens of thousands of views and hundreds of upvotes. Dr. Iceu is probably the biggest offender these days. I wish he would just go away and use a meme website that is so big that no one cares about reposts. Imgflip, and its community, are sick of all his, and everyone else's reposts!

You are correct, it is very hard to be truly original. The best way to be original, in my opinion, is to use whatever wacky thought(s) come to mind and then spin it by finding a template that meshes with your idea. Then, plug in your idea and you have an original meme. It's hard to make a truly original meme that will "go viral", but I guaranty you can do it. Give it a try and message me so I can look at what you create.

That is a fair assessment. But reposts belong in the repost stream. And people who pretend they made a meme/joke, but obviously didn't, are dishonorable memers. It is that simple.

It's not even close to the exact same meme, simply because the wording is much different. It is the same concept, yes, but that does not constitute a repost.
