It's not offensive to utilize stereotypes IF the intent is not to offend...this is merely a meme that plays off popular stereotypes about Italy...no sensible person would ever dream to think that the meme actually depicts Italy how it is. It's a proud nation with centuries of history.

Of course they're inaccurate...it's inaccurate that Americans are all extremely muscular superheroes (I met a man from Taiwan who believed this because all he knew about us he'd learned from movies) and it's inaccurate that we're all overweight gun-totin' rednecks.

That doesn't mean either of those stereotypes aren't funny; something being inaccurate doesn't make it offensive. Something is offensive IF whomever is making the "joke" truly wants to hurt, rather than humorize.

I would imagine that the OP did not wish to offend, and instead wanted to utilize stereotypes to make a joke that the majority of people by all rights should consider harmless and funny.

This is all my opinion of course. Yours is equally valid, I merely offer mine so you can see why most people probably won't find this offensive.

Yeah I know, but so far I have only seen one Italian in the comments (apart from myself) and they agreed. If someone made a stereotypical meme degrading your culture, you'd probably be upset as well.
