My aunt used to love reciting the mantra: "We are not given a good life or a bad life, that we are given a life and it is up to us to make it good or bad."; So one day my uncle asked, "But what if you're born like the Elephant Man?" And my aunt had to get online to find out who the Elephant Man was and when she did, she broke down crying. After that she never uttered that mantra again, which was a relief for everyone in the family, especially my uncle. So, in his own way, he proved her mantra right about how we make our own lives good.
