But an ad hominem doesn’t destroy or damage the logical argument. They are irrational and not valid for reasonable debate. Call them out for what they are and move on with the discussion. As hominem is also the tactic of the defeated, of those who have no reply to rational content. Since they cannot win in rational thought, they resort to demagoguery to get support for their side of the argument.
