The military can legally refuse to refuse an unlawful order. Suspending the Constitution would be considered an unlawful order.

I would venture a guess that the military, for the most part, would follow the lead of the joint chiefs of staff and those guys have no love lost for Donald Trump.

Yeah, I really think the top generals would push back (probably with the unlawful order thing), but Trump CAN dismiss them. He would try to go on a firing spree and it would be a circus, but whoever replaced those generals might also refuse. Also, the Congress would come into the picture.
