Here's a question I wish to respectfully ask: Do you consider it homophobic if a Catholic (or similar Christian) fully supports the LGBTQ+ community when it comes to equal rights under the law (civil marriage, tax status, etc), but asks that they in turn respect the Catholic's right to disagree with them on matter such as marriage within a religion?

Legally, it's all protected under the First Amendment of course, but I'm just fishing for answers here. If you see this comment elsewhere it's because I'm copy/pasting it and trying to build a good set of answers.

Okay, THIS IS MY OPINION but I think that IF God created everything! then he created LGBTQ+ and also IF being LGBTQ+ is a sin and God CANNOT be in the presents of sin then he couldn't make LGBTQ+ so I'm sorry if I offended you I didn't mean to and I wasn't meaning by "Homophobe" as "someone who is Chistian/Catholics" I mean "anyone who doesn't support us and think we should all go to hell! DISCLAIMER: I am NOT saying you think that and all Catholic/Christian think that. I just don't think its right to tell little children who CANNOT control their sexuality that they are going to hell AGAIN I AM NOT REFERING TO YOU OR THE REGILTION IN GENERAL I AM REFERING TO THE PEOPLE WHO THINK THAT WAY (because if it were my choice I wouldn't be bi/trans).

First off my friend, I would never take offense to someone answering a question, and you DO NOT need to apologize!!!:):) I knew what you meant, and the extent of my question was your opinion on folks who just want to 'live and let live', so to speak.

Also, I should just note that official Catholic dogma (I'm Catholic, so I know a fair bit about our beliefs, but this does NOT apply to other religions since I'm not qualified to speak for them) very much opposes ever considering the existence of something a sin. LGBTQ+ folks aren't considered 'blasphemy' or anything like that, because we're not so obtuse to think that immutable characteristics (sexuality, skin color, age, mental capacity, etc) solely define a person. The choices we make define us, and you can't choose how, where, or when you're born. That's why we fully support equal civil rights for all; We may all live differently, and people are always going to disagree with others (be it about lifestyle, politics, etc), but those differences shouldn't define us.
