Easy. Minecraft is the same thing over and over again and Fortnite offers variety that you get with online matches and randomized loot. However Minecraft is generally the same thing with the exception of random seeds. Minecraft also takes a while in a world to get fun once you have done all the tedious grinding it starts to get fun but then you spent all your time to get to the fun part and die and start over.

And fortnite has different modes, like creative and battle lab, if you want to play by yourself
