I want a debate, not a war

Abortion is Murder and it should not be legal.
Unborn babies and fetuses are human beings who can react to their surroundings, have emotions, and have feelings. Ultrasounds can show that a fetus is not just a clump of cells until the day he/she is born but that they look uncannily like people ...because they are. Abortion disregards the fact that they are human inside the womb just as much as outside.

But infants are not as developed as young children and young children are not as developed as teenagers and teenagers are not as developed as people in their 20s and then their 30s and then their 40s and etc. people are ALWAYS developing, learning, more and more til the day of their death. It would be TERRIBLE if a 30 year old person decided to remove a toddler from this world just because the toddler wasn’t as developed as him. Give them a chance! They will develop!

🔹 I know this one is touchy because there are many women who have been wronged in this world and either were forced into having a child, cannot take care of one, or risk death by continuing with the birth. But just because the mother was wronged does not mean that killing the innocent child that is causing their harm is the right way to go. There is adoption and this is a wonderful thing. If the biological mother cannot take care of her child for whatever reason, then there are many amazing couples who would love and take care of that child. There is also foster care which is also great!

I believe a human life begins when a foetus develops brainwaves. Before that, I believe in abortion on demand. After that, I believe it should be limited to cases of rape, incest, or the life of the mother.

However, I also believe abortions should be discouraged and unwanted pregnancies prevented by sex education, free contraceptives, child care, financial help for mothers, psychological counseling, and increased prosecution and punishment of rapists.

I personally do not agree with abortion, because if you are having sex, you should be prepared to end up giving birth (heterosexual sex, that is). I don't agree with the legalization of abortion. But I disagree with the illegalization of abortion even more. There will always be the people who have been raped, who should always have access to abortions. There are the people who know that they just can't raise a child, and aborting will end up with less suffering. Similarly, imagine being the result of a one night stand. That would be horrible. The thing is, there will always be the people who want an abortion, and if they can't get one legally and properly, they are going to resort to, ah, more shady methods (such as jumping off the top of the stairs, hiring untrained gangsters to knife open the womb and remove the baby, and similar things).

My point is not that abortion is amazing. It is a last resort and should not be treated as some kind of joke. It is often traumatic, but legalizing abortions will ultimately end up with fewer deaths. Abortion is terrible, and no-one should have to go anything like it. But just remember: the alternative is much, MUCH worse.

I believe people who have been raped should be able to consider it, but otherwise, it should be illegal. It should not be a convince for irresponsible people like it is now.

And there should absolutely be counselling for abortion. If it isn't a rape/teenage pregnancy, then there should be mandatory abortion counselling. That way, people will keep the baby, and not resort to the previously mentioned shadier methods.

I agree, though I believe even with teen pregnancies, they should get that counselling before trying to get an abortion. What we really need on top of that is better education for youth about the consequences of irresponsible sex and such things.

The thing is that abortion is not the only option. There are adoption facilities all around America that are more then happy give the child a good foster home or a forever family. There a lot of couples that want to have children but can’t and adoption is an amazing option. I have some friends from my church (two of them are Democrats by the way) who work at such a facility that shows the other options to these women. Also almost every Catholic Church (at least where I’m from) I see has a sign in front offering for these women to come in and talk about it so that they don’t take the life of their child, how ever he/she got there.
Murder is illegal. But people do it all the time in dark alleys and usually in a violent matter. But it would be TERRIBLE if people chose to end their life and had a doctor kill them. Eeesh, gives me the jitters.

And there are a lot of children who never get adopted. And my point still stands. Before abortion was legalized (and people still had the option to put their child up for adoption), people were getting back alley abortions. There will always be people who want an abortion. No matter what. And finally. In the US, killing in self-defense (or to save someone elses life) is legal. Why should the same not apply to abortions? There have been plenty of cases where someone was pressured by a community not to have an abortion, and ended up dying along with the unborn child because of that.

Yes, if it was the only way to save the woman’s life then yes. If the baby would have died anyway and it is just further risking the woman’s life then yes. But sadly this is not always the case. Many people abort their child just to get rid of the responsibility.

About adoption, orphanages and foster families give the children a home until they are adopted or the mother or father or relative can take care of the child. I know some foster families that adopted the children when the mother couldn’t take continue on. My sibling (who will remained unnamed) is also adopted, saved from forced abortion in China. True not every child can be adopted but the foster parents teach the child to live life despite difficulties.

Specifically, 1% of abortions are in life-threatening cases. 5% are results of rape and pedophilia. And (while adoption is always an option) some people still won't choose it. Do those people deserve to die? And I do hate the people who get abortion as a convenience. That isn't what it is. It is a last resort that you should only be going through if there is rape, teenage pregnancy or no access to adoption facilities. There will still be the people who will pay gangsters to perform abortions on them. By doing that, they are giving the gangsters income, putting themselves at serious risk and giving other people a cover-up for murder (like the ones that HH Holmes used)

That is true and I see your point but right now abortion is presented as the best alternative but place like planned parenthood. It’s disgusting how places like these capitalize on something that should be called a last resort at best. True there is always evil in the world but that shouldn’t be the excuse for having organizations that kill infants for a living, to put it bluntly. I feel like if it wasn’t presented as the easiest and best option then the world would be a better place. I don’t personally know any gangsters who would volunteer to preform an abortion, but I realize there are evil people in the world.

If their life is threatened, I have the same stance as on rape. However, they is only a tiny percentage of people. We're not in the middle ages anymore. Mortality from childbirth is incredibly rare. The fringe cases of the issues should not justify the masses of people getting abortions for convenience, though.
