Yeah I'm with you. It is frustrating, and though I try not to contribute to the disrespect it is very difficult. I keep thinking I will take a break from politics but imgflip is my only outlet to vent. I try to do it by poking fun but I can see how the trump fans feel it is disrespecting their 'views'. Try to rise above them - and flag where necessary. Most of my flags get dealt with and I try to not flag stuff that is just stupid or disrespecting me/my username. I dunno, Politics stream should be policed better maybe because it is thick with idiotic stuff that constantly pushes the envelope. Problem is, many of those views are firmly in mainstream media, or is being reported on. Its really grating. Oh well!

Have to laugh that the politics stream even exists, considering the current low level of respectable memes. Did these problems come up during Obama's presidency?

Thats going way back, there are many more current examples - though not many rise to that level, they are insidious enough to gain popularity with the low IQ people
