Jar Jar vs Rose

I think Rose could have been a great character, if they didn’t waste everything in TROS

She had plenty of potential. But Last Jedi's script was so uneven with its treatment of Rose, her story never went anywhere. And then of course, TROS cut all her scenes leaving fans totally in the lurch.
As for poor JarJar, the fans still hate him, cause they never got the joke. His stupid antics were there specifically for the kids. His nonsense was like C3P0s constant complaining in New Hope. It's just for fun. Lucas never took the movies as seriously as we did and just wanted people to have a good time.

Rose is so fricking annoying

The team of ghost writers working for Rian J***son really screwed her over. They tried to write three different characters, make her play all of em and never explain why. After the movie came out, Rian admitted: the casio subplot was supposed to be a boy's date for Fin and Poe & Rose was added at the last minute cause 'SOMEBODY' said they needed more 'strong powerful women' scenes.
How can an actress save a role when the writers don't make an effort? Sad.

Ahmed Best, the actor for Jar Jar, actually considered suicide because of haters.

Jar jar was just fine too. It's not like he was an actually bad character. He just was the comic relief in a movie that didn't need comic relief.

It's good to know you're not a mindless Jar Jar cynic. I had to defend him, if just because of my username.

Heck, when I was a kid I loved Jar Jar for being funny. So probably that was the target audience.
