Here's some advice. Go to the Waterfall shop near the riverman. Buy all the Cloudy Glasses you can with the gold you have. Go to the room before the darkening crystal room. Go down the path on the left. Follow the path until you see the path going down. Go down the path until you see Temmie Village. Sell the Cloudy Glasses to the Tem shopkeeper. When she says "Woh!" say no the first time and she will raise the price by 15G. Once you have 1000G, pay for Tem's college. After she gets back, she will sell you Tem Armor for 750G. Go back and forth buying and selling Cloudy Glasses. When you have 750G, buy the Tem armor and equip it. This will lower the amount of damage you take in battles.
Tem actually buys the Cloudy Glasses for 50G each, and you buy them for 30G. The Tem armor actually helped me one try Mettaton, Asgore, Photoshop Flowey, and Asriel. I haven't done the genocide route yet.
