Actually we would. Instead of focusing on teaching young kids basic things like how to read, write, count, (with other basic knowledge) and then moving on to how to pay taxes and what's going on in the world instead of assigning special quizzes or homework we teach them useless pieces of information they only need for special careers that they could then study themselves if they need and base everything in society on whether someone was 'a good student' and went to college to exchange education for debt. If we focused on (truly) preparing people for the real world (instead of just claiming to) we would focus on the first senario because it's about helping them develop their future as people instead of giving anyone who gets a 90 or higher a sticker and pat on the back.
