High school, I played linebacker in my junior year, and in my senior year I played defensive end, offensive tackle, and occasionally played wide receiver.
Made one reception as a wide receiver for about ten yards. I know that reception is not much, but still a stat more noteworthy than a “squib” kick that barely went twenty-five yards before bouncing.
My best work was as playing as defensive end. I remember driving the offensive tackle backward into the quarterback and forcing the quarterback to throw the ball early off his backfoot, which led to an interception. The head coach in a team meeting the following week told me “You made that play happen.” Felt pretty damn good.
