Waffle don’t have more surface area than pancakes, because pancakes can be whatever size you want them to be, an advantage of pancakes, while waffles have to come out of a special press. Or you could roll your pancakes.

Same batter does not equal same flavor. It’s not always the same batter, but the differences in cooking make a difference texture, how well it absorbs things, and taste.

So if I put peanut butter inside one pancake and on top of another it would taste the same? I think not. Same with cream cheese, same with fruit, same with chocolate.

I know what I said. It's your interpretation of what I said that's off.

No it will not taste like peanut butter either way, I bake a f**king ton and I can tell you, baking peanut butter into something gives it a lighter flavor while putting it on top makes it a very strong flavor and too dry.
Same with if you put fresh strawberries on top it will give it contrasting textures and a more complex flavor while baking it in makes them squishy and has less contrast.

It’s not the size of the burner it’s the size of the pan, plenty of people have pans big enough to make a pancake bigger than a waffle. I could use a panini press and make a pancake on that too.

And I guess agree it’s the a similar taste in a different kind of way.
