also, the black plague was seen as a hex a witch put on the people from killing her. these were the times when the witch trials were going on so most died for either not getting help, or dying from getting help. unlike covid where its easy to defend from if the right measures are taken. and that doesn't stop people from not wearing aa mask, for medical reasons or not.
