And yet the land does vote. The electoral college was added to the Constitution so that larger populated states would not dominated lesser populated states. So therefore the states, or as you put it, the land, does vote. The land, in this case is represented by electors.
Presidents are NOT elected by the popular vote. They never were. However the popular vote does decide who the electors cast their vote for.
If you take away the Electoral College then Los Angeles and New York City would determine who our president is in every election. All of the rest of the cities, counties and states would have absolutely no voice. This is exactly what the Democrats want because they control LA and NYC and the want to control the nation. Democrat control is exactly why LA and NYC are falling apart right now. It is why the homeless problem has quadrupled in the last decade.
Democrat control during Obama is why over half of America's working population was living on government assistance and not working. Trump changed all of that and you Democrats put a senile old fart in office just to put working America out of a job again.
